VEGGIE BOXES

April 2020
Haere mai, nau mai, haere mai! Special "click and collect" service for our Grey Lynn Farmers Market customers - regulars and new - tell your friends and neighbours - everyone in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) is welcome (travel restrictions may apply while in different COVID-19 Levels).

Update 6 May 2020 - kūmara still available
Thanks to the enthusiastic response to our Organic Veggies - our Seaonsal Surprise boxes are now not available until further notice. In due course we will have them again with t
omatoes, spinach, kale, beans, silverbeet, radishes, Basil - a range of our freshly picked green and leafy produce.

Currently - We DO still have a bumper crop of organic kūmara available - $10 for 1kg - these will run out fairly soon too so be in quick - see below for how to order.

As the marae's main purpose is to make sure our South Auckland whānau (families/community) are being looked after, and with the increased demand for kai (food) for South Auckland whānau due to jobs being lost already in this area (due to the COVID-19 crisis), The Kai Ika Project www.kaiika.co.nz has been expanded at the marae with nearly 1000kg per week of fish heads being prepared and delivered by the marae staff to our South Auckland whānau. Because of this, and with limited staff, we are not able to do deliveries at the moment like we were before and will only be doing a contactless "click and collect" model. Aroha mai (apologies) but if you are able to make it to Papatūānuku Kōkiri Marae 141R Robertson Rd, Mangere East to collect your kūmara, please order by 4pm Friday. Haere mai, nau mai, haere mai!

Yes, the marae is officially an essential service. Our health and safety measures have been upgraded to the COVID-19 standards expected of an essential service. See below for how to order. We hope to see you soon!

"Back in February I visited this marae in Mangere East as I’d heard about the kai they were growing and distributing locally in their role as kaitiaki (custodians). I was hoping I could secure a supply of their renowned kumara for my Auckland restaurants The Sugar Club and Bellota" Peter Gordon, 23.4.2020

"Just got my delivery. Can you please pass on that this is a golden box of deliciousness. It’s the best delivery I have had of anywhere for the last three weeks. So good. And I loved to have a brief chat with real people."

ABOUT

ABOUT

Papatūānuku Kōkiri Marae has been growing organic vegetables on this whenua in South Auckland since 1984. For the past year, we have been selling our organic produce at the Grey Lynn Farmer's Market to fundraise for the work we do full time - supporting the South Auckland community.

Due to COVID19, as an official essential service, the marae continues to support and feed the people of South Auckland.

The marae has an abundance of beautiful kai and, besides continuing our ongoing work as a not-for-profit NZ Registered Charity, we are now selling, via a "click and collect" model, our premium organic veggies to our Grey Lynn customers - for collection on Sunday afternoons. All our health and safety protocols have been upgraded to the standard expected of an essential service in this current time. Please support our work and many initiatives by continuing to buy your fresh organic produce from the marae's urban farm. And if you would like to go the extra mile, please consider donating to the marae through our givealittle page: https://givealittle.co.nz/org/papatuanuku-kokiri-marae

We are in great need of funds to continue our mahi (work) and our mission to help the people of South Auckland to not only survive, but to thrive.

"The veggies arrived yesterday and are absolutely beautiful. My 4 year old son asked me to tell you he loves the little orange tomatoes. We had a warm veggie salad for lunch then another feast of greens for dinner, including a kohlrabi salad, first time using that fabulously tasty little treat! We'll def be ordering again."
